According to the recent national tuberculosis (TB) prevalence survey, the disease burden estimates are increasing, but the survey indicated a halving of the 1990 disease burden. Unfortunately, case detection has stagnated and the recent survey has shown that many cases of TB remain undiagnosed and untreated.

Using village peer educators and Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilization (ACSM) PEDA has been delivering programs to vulnerable groups such as female sex workers and ethnic minorities. Programs focus on screening for TB, and referral of suspected case to diagnosis and treatment facilities.
