GlobeMed - Notre Dame
PEDA partners with the GlobeMed chapter at the University of Notre Dame, and together they are currently working on malaria prevention in Nong District, Savannakhet. The GlobeMed chapter at Notre Dame is made up of approximately 50 students who investigate global health issues and raise funds for PEDA throughout the year.
Each year a small group of students from the GlobeMed team participate in an internship with PEDA. The internship is geared towards learning about PEDA’s operations through experience gained in both the office in Vientiane and in the field in the Nong District. In the office, the GlobeMed interns work together with PEDA to write proposals and participate in conferences addressing the current health issues in Laos. In the field, the GlobeMed interns interact first hand with rural villagers in the Nong District, educating about disease prevention and distributing healthcare prevention materials.
