PEDA began in August 2001 under the name Youth Fellowship for Action on Development. With six full time volunteer members, initial activities focused on poverty reduction and environmental management.

The Youth Fellowship for Action Development changed it's name to PEDA in 2006 and was officially certified and endorsed by the National Science and Engineering Council to deliver community education and development programs. In 2009 PEDA was successful in their application to become a registered Civil Society Organization (CSO).

Currently, PEDA has 25 registered members and more than 400 trained volunteers across 9 provinces. PEDA has developed vast experience designing and delivering programs aimed at HIV/AIDS / STIs, malaria, tuberculosis, drug use and human trafficking prevention. PEDA partners with community leaders, grassroots organizations, ethnic minorities, rural and disadvantaged communities, and groups at risk such as women, female sex workers, school children and vulnerable youth.

To bring the vulnerable and marginalized out of poverty through the delivery of targeted education and capacity building programs, resulting in communities which are both self-reliant and sustainably developed.

 

Our Goals are to:

• increase the quantity, diversity and geographical spread of educational programs and projects successfully delivered by PEDA;

• be financially sustainable and secure; and

• build a team of capable, productive and professional staff.
