Lao is primarily a source country for victims of trafficking. Women may be trafficked for the commercial sex trade, domestic services, garment working and agricultural industries. Men may be victims of forced labor for fishing and construction industries.

 

PEDA has been delivering awareness-raising and behavior change communication programs on human trafficking in association with road development projects. Development and delivery of a comprehensive education package, including Information, Education, Communication (IEC) material, has focused on basic education relating to risk-taking behaviors, safe travel and migration, and where to get help and services.
